Pushing the boundaries of energy innovation.
NEC is at the forefront of discovering and developing new energy resources that fuel growth and sustainability in Namibia.
DEVELOPMENT OVERVIEW
NEC is focused on unlocking the energy potential of Namibia’s key basins, including the Orange, Lüderitz, and Walvis Bay basins. Our exploration strategy leverages advanced technologies to access and develop these critical resources. The company holds 10 offshore blocks, including 4 as non-operating interests.
NEC’s Acreage
NEC is currently the largest acreage holder in Namibia, with over 74, 529 km2, and one of the largest in the entire Sub-Saharan Africa.
Orange Basin
BLOCKS
2815 – 2915
Blocks 2815 and 2915 include a drill-ready shallow well targeting Upper Cretaceous sandstone turbidites with amplitude/AVO anomalies (e.g., Meerkat-1) and over 1.3 billion BOE of certified prospective resources (DeGolyer & MacNaughton). Supported by 1,100 km² of high-quality 3D PSDM seismic data, the Orange Basin has become one of Africa’s top exploration hotspots, with major discoveries by Shell, TotalEnergies, and Galp confirming its vast potential.
Lüderitz Basin
BLOCKS
2511, 2611, 2512A, 2612A,
2512B, 2612A and 2612B
Blocks 2511, 2512B, 2611, and 2612B (Non-Operating Interest) are strategically positioned along a depositional trend with major turbidity complex reservoir systems identified in neighboring eastern blocks. Blocks 2513, 2612A and 2512A, benefit from 3D seismic data coverage. They exhibit seismic amplitude anomalies similar to those found in the Orange Basin discoveries. Preliminary interpretations suggest that these anomalies are associated with three structurally trapped leads and multiple sand-rich basin-floor fans contained within stratigraphic and mixed stratigraphic-structural trap systems.
Walvis Bay Basin
BLOCK
2212B
Block 2212B has been extensively studied and identified with promising Upper Cretaceous sand-rich turbidite prospects and leads. These prospects, mapped using state-of-the-art 3D seismic data, show strong seismic amplitudes and consistent AVO anomalies
